You’ll know in the first hour.

I won’t sell you on aikido. Come train once, for free, and see if it grabs you the way it grabbed us.

Save My Spot ↓

This is aikido trained as a martial art. No magic, little mysticism.

You’ll be grabbed, thrown, and taught to fall. You’ll sweat.

It’s hard. And it’s worth it.

Your first class, start to finish.

  1. You arrive 10-15 minutes early

We’re upstairs at 2511 W Girard Ave in Brewerytown. Use the door just to the LEFT of the Koa Strength entrance, then head up the stairs. We meet you at the top and get you sorted. Your waiver’s already done.

  2. We bow in

Class opens with a bow and a little stillness. Just follow along.

  3. You learn to fall

First you learn ukemi: how to hit the mat and get back up, unhurt.

  4. You train with a partner

You’re paired with someone experienced whose job is to keep you safe. You’ll sweat, and probably laugh.

  5. We bow out

By the end, most people know whether they’ll be back.

Who this is for.

Come train if

  • You want to work hard at something new.
  • You’re a little afraid and want to get past it.
  • You’ll actually show up.

Maybe skip it if

  • You don’t want to fall. (You’ll fall a lot.)
  • You want a gentle workout.
  • You can only come once in a while.

If the first list sounds like you, come train.

“I started here as a complete novice, and in not the best physical shape. It’s been a struggle, but practicing here has really improved my life.”

“The instructor is kind but rigorous… There is no coddling here, and if you are looking for a challenge of mind and body, this is the place.”

From me

“I won’t promise you anything. But here’s what I’ve watched happen to people who stick with it: they get stronger, more at home in their body, more confident. Something quieter shows up too: awareness, compassion, the ego starting to fall away.

Training here is hard, and I’ll push you. Come willing and humble, and I’ll take you further than you thought you’d go.”
