For those who’ve trained before
Welcome back.
People come back to the mat after a few years, or twenty.
Book a return class →This dojo was built by people who returned.
Mark stopped training almost twenty years ago. Then he passed someone in a Lemon Hill Aikido t-shirt, watched a class, and stayed. Lynwood, who trained years ago, saw us training and decided at sixty-seven to try again. Twenty years on the couch, as he puts it. Others left the way people usually leave: a move, a new job, life filling up.
Nobody talked them into returning. Nobody had to.
Why they stay.
Sensei’s on the mat with you.
Not just calling techniques from the edge of the room. Training, taking falls. It’s a small dojo, and the person teaching you is the one who runs it.
Hard training you don’t age out of.
The intensity is built to last decades, to meet you where you’re at. Lynwood is sixty-nine and still training.
Real pressure-tested aikido.
No magic, little mysticism. A technique has to work against resistance, otherwise aikido’s just dance. We’re not just dancing.

“Returning to my practice at this dojo has been truly invigorating — to my mental training and my body health and conditioning. Andrés has a good sense of where each student is at, and really pushes each person to their own personal limits.”

“I have been doing Aikido for a long time and really enjoy this dojo. It’s high-level practice with body conditioning and meditation. The instructor is knowledgeable and patient with great communication skills.”

From me
“If you want to train, this is a good place to train. And I hope you train with us! But I won’t try to convince you.
When I found my teacher’s dojo in Brooklyn, nobody had to sell me on it. I watched and knew. So come watch a class, or better, take one. See if the training bug is still there.”
